Let Us Be Doers Of The Word NOT Hearers Only

Let us be doers of the word, these building we go to and call churches seem to have more and more that come to sit and take up space and leave the same why one comes in. That might sound just a little harsh, but it is true.

James 1:21-26 (NKJV) 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and [abundance]overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

Let us actually look at this Scripture for what it says. I do believe that there are many jobs out there that should not be done by Christians. Well I took the job because I needed to feed my family. Did you ask God for help? Did you pray about it? See I believe my Father will take care of me He has always and yes I have used excuses.

Verse 21 to lay aside ALL not some or part but ALL FILTHINESS and WICKEDNESS. Not some but ALL and then receive with meekness the IMPLANTED word, which is able to save our souls. What is being said here, I feel, is we need to clean up our act and God will help us..

Verse 22 is the one that got me started here today BE DOERS NOT HEARERS ONLY of the word for if not then we are lying to ourselves. What I am saying is not popular because the building is full of those that think Sunday morning is enough, and that is why I backed up and took up verses 19-20…

James 1:19-20 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Again a couple words jumped out EVERY MAN—be swift to HEAR—slow to SPEAK—slow to WRATH. The verse that I was going to start with became the verse I will end with verse 20 the WRATH of man does NOT produce the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God…

I pray that this devotional is taken for what I am saying. I am not judging anyone I am hoping to help us all to grow. I have never been good at sugar coating anything. I love you all and I desire to meet again in Heaven. I would like others to grow as I have and am growing in our Lords love.
