Godly Order Part One

Crossing Your Jordan

There was a time a few years back I decided I was going to study the book of Joshua. So I sat out on the journey… However after months I only got through Joshua 1: 17 however I found something there that changed my life and hope maybe it can help someone else with a problem.

We, as Christians sometimes wish to argue or fight with God about what he wishes to fix or change in us. We suggest that this or that, is more important than what he has chosen in us to change. After reading this I hope that some have a better idea and understanding of God or Savior. The first 9 verses are what is called “God’s Commission to Joshua.”

The first thing that hit me in these 9 verses, was God does not waste words he says what he has to say and then expect us to do what he has commissioned us to do… However knowing that some will not follow through, I believe these things or challenges is put before us so that we can choose to follow or not follow. Or to be a Christian or not to be… Either way he still loves us and wishes for us to grow daily, hour by hour, minute by minute, or second by second. We are not going to do it all right however I think day, hour, or second we get better at listening to God our savior.

If you have read the other statement I have written you will understand why I am saying what I am saying if not please read them. (If you wish to read things I have said before just type Jym’s Corner in the search box and you will find them.

JOSHUA 1: 1– 9 (Darby Translation)

1 And it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of Jehovah, that Jehovah spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ attendant, saying,

2 Moses my servant is dead; and now, rise up, go over this Jordan, thou and all this people, into the land which I give unto them, to the children of Israel.

The next thing that got me was this Jordan, Well so I started looking and could not find another Jordan River anywhere so what did he mean by go over this Jordan? Then I read on.

6 Be strong (confident) and of good courage, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
7 Only you be strong and very courageous, that you may do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you. Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good [b]success.
9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
One thing I also read out of this passage is that He tells Joshua to be STRONG, COURAGEOUS, VIGOROUS and be not AFRAID nor DISMAYED… Then he promises Joshua that He will be with him wherever he goes. So if we are those things and we are not afraid or dismayed he will do the same things with us and for us.
The next part is called “Joshua Assumes Command”
JOSHUA 1: 10–18 (Amplified Bible)
10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
11 Pass through the camp and command the people, Prepare your provisions, for within three days you shall pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.
12 And to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,
13 Remember what Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, The Lord your God is giving you [of these two and a half tribes a place of] rest and will give you this land [east of the Jordan].
14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle shall dwell in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan, but all your mighty men of valor shall pass on before your brethren [of the other tribes] armed, and help them [possess their land]
15 Until the Lord gives your brethren rest, as He has given you, and they also possess the land the Lord your God is giving them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession and possess it, the land Moses the Lord’s servant gave you on the sunrise side of the Jordan.
16 They answered Joshua, All you command us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.
17 As we hearkened to Moses in all things, so will we hearken to you; only may the Lord your God is with you as He was with Moses.
18 Whoever rebels against your commandment and will not hearken to all you command him shall be put to death. Only be strong, vigorous, and of good courage.

Alright now if you read nothing else I ever write I am going to say if you read this and keep it near your heart. You will have no reason to fear nor be worried or ashamed.
1st God will never beat around the bush. (He will say what he has to say when he has to say it)
2nd (verse 1) the servant of the LORD (Be a servant of the lord)
3rd (verse 2) go over this Jordan (Do not argue with God do as he tells you)
4th (verse 6) Be strong (confident) and of good courage, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land (you are encouraged The Lord says to you that you shall, not could, should or might.  Shall.)
5th (verse 7) Only you be strong and very courageous (again God will encourage you) the He says, Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. ( In Jyms words, don’t look to the right nor the left look straight ahead and…)
6th (verse 8 ) This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, (don’t broadcast what God has told you) but you shall meditate on it day and night. Now I am talking about what is going to be done here in this situation there are times that you are to broadcast what God has said to you however not here.
You may be going through many ungodly habits or addictions… Maybe just a few however our God wishes that you cross this Jordan not any other (deal with this addiction). I am quite sure that there are things that you are addicted to like: negative thinking, worry, finding it hard to believe in God. Finding it hard to believe or trust in God, and on and on and on… Or it might be lust of the flesh or drugs or alcohol. However what God is going to work on in you, is what you are to concentrate on (don’t look to the right nor the left) deal with this and you shall be rid of it…

Thank You and may you be touched by God in a mighty way. And if any that views this material are not saved knowing Jesus Christ as their savior please consider accepting him. Psalm 5:8 (AMP) Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way level (straight and right) before my face.
